With Summer finally behind us and the preparations for Christmas in full swing it’s that time again when all those at Swift Group hang up their tools and take a well earned rest. To all of our customers who have supported us in 2013 we would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with Smiles.

The Kilimanjaro Challenge

Swift Group’s Duncan Smith (who is our National Sales Manager for Holiday Homes), Rhys Beak Sales Manager -  Blackhills Caravans and Dave Randle – owner of UK Sundecks are taking on the formidable Kilimanjaro Challenge from 21^st February 2014.

These very brave adventurers are taking on this very tough challenge on behalf of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK whose aim is to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. This tremendous cause enables seriously ill children the chance to have their wishes come true and create many happy memories.

Pictured: The hardy adventurers - Duncan, Rhys & Dave Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the most impressive sights in Africa and climbing it is one of the all time great achievements. Rising majestically from a rolling plain close to the Indian Ocean, Kilimanjaro soars to a chilling 5,895m high peak (well above the cloud line).
 

It’s the highest mountain in Africa and the largest free-standing mountain in the world. You can only imagine the incredible feeling watching the sun rise over the vast African plains.

Kilimanjaro’s location on an open plain close to the Indian Ocean and its great size and height strongly influence the climate, vegetation, animal life and the climbing conditions. It also creates its own weather system affecting the surrounding rainfall pattern, which means that hiking Kilimanjaro requires immense stamina, persistence and a waterproof resilience.
Duncan explains further “I decided to take up this challenge for a number of reasons; firstly I wanted to do something for an excellent cause and Make-A-Wish Foundation UK is very close to my heart, secondly it’s an incredible challenge and has pushed me to improve my personal fitness prior to the trip. It also is wonderful that I am able to participate in this challenge with my friends Rhys and Dave as strong camaraderie will keep us all going, especially when it gets tough!”

Swift Sales Manager Martin Hailey received an intergalactic welcome when he visited Stockton Caravan Dealership Teesside Caravans, for awaiting his arrival was a Jawa, Stormtrooper, Tie Fighter Pilot and R2-D2 who had travelled a long way to view the new 2014 range of Sprite, Swift and Sterling caravans.

The party spent much of its time enquiring about the features of each model, asking probing questions regarding features such the aerodynamic system, enhanced durability and Alde heating.
After partaking of a few refreshments in a Swift Challenger, the Stormtrooper commented that the layout and features could rival that of any Royal Starship.

The ‘characters’ were onsite taking part in the Specialist TV and Film Sale at Vectis Toy Auctions who are owned by the same parent company, The Hambleton Group as Teesside Caravans and shared the same 19 acre site at Thornaby, Stockton on Tees.

After browsing the vast selection, the party asked for a photograph with the recent ‘Service Centre of the Year’ Award Winners. When it was time to leave the R2-D2 was heard to say “All the Swift range were out of this world and fit for any Princess, Rebel Alliance or not!" The visitors marched back to Vectis in time to watch the successful auction which included a ultra-rare Star Wars original Palitoy carded Jawa figure reach £10,200 and another extremely sought after Star Wars acetate realised £6,000.
